David Beckham has reached a tentative agreement for the construction of a proposed new MLS ground in Miami, Florida.
It would be built on the former site of the historic Orange Blow, next to the Miami Marlins’ baseball park.
Beckham’s partners reached an initial agreement with local officials in a meeting on Friday for the privately funded 25,000-seater stadium.
Marcelo Claure, who is part of Beckham’s team, tweeted to confirm the news, just as it looked like hopes for the franchise were starting to fade.
He wrote: “Great meeting with @Tomas_Regalado (Mayor of Miami) we have presented him our intentions to bring Futbol and a new soccer stadium in the former Orange Bowl.”
