Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club
“never considered” trying to sign Raheem Sterling from Liverpool.
The 20-year-old gets on the brink of a £49m move to Manchester City after it was agreed with the Liverpool.
Arsenal were promoted as a possible destination for Sterling, and confessed earlier this year that he was flattered by the Gunners’ interest.
Nevertheless, Wenger has said that he never ever contemplated releasing a bid for the striker as he currently has plenty of players who fill that role.
“It is a good buy for Man City,” The Mirror quotes Wenger as saying. “It looked a done deal for a while because Sterling was adamant he wanted the move.
“It is an expensive one but they can afford it. We never considered it because he plays in an area where we have plenty of players.
